HOW DOES A PATIENT’S DAY LOOK LIKE IN OUR CLINIC?
Treatment is stationary and the patient is 24 hours under the supervision of physicians and medical staff. The patient can receive appropriate help at any time, which makes the process maximally painless and pleasant.
There are 60 people working in our clinic, including a night team composed by: an Intensive Care and Detoxification Specialist, two senior nurses, nurses and support staff. They are at the patient’s disposal 24 hours a day. The hospital is equipped with monitors that detect any change in your health condition. There is a series of devices and drugs that protect you from crises.
During the day, usually in the morning hours, patients are visited by nurses, who take biological samples for analysis. After that, the doctors come, ask patients how they slept and prescribe the necessary treatment and procedures. Procedures are complex and they involve several methods, including sedation and receptor cleaning (Pinprick – Ultra Rapid Detoxification; N.E.T Neuro-Electric Therapy, special procedures for audio-visual stimulation, lateral therapy etc.). Due to frequent nutrition disturbances, insufficient or excessive appetite, the therapy includes ferments that enhance the capacity of assimilating food, amino acids and vitamins. The treatment also includes a lung-cleaning therapy in order to eliminate the consequences of narcotic inhalation (if indicated), special infusions with neuro-metabolic substances, nootropics for the enhancement of exchange processes in the brain and hepatic protectors for the regeneration of the leaver. All the products used in pharmacotherapy are safe and create no dependency.
After completing the medical procedures, when patients feel physically and mentally well, they are assisted by a team of psychologists, who organize group therapy, prepare them to work on the formation of criticism and help them understand the mechanisms of the disease. There is also individual psychotherapy, which involves not only work at a conscious level, but also at subconscious level. We understand how stressing the entire situation is for patients and their families and we are fully aware that the consent for treatment is the key decision for patients and their families. That is why; we do our best to reduce the stress. For the same reason, it is very important that the treatment should not be formal, but comprehensive and with the full support of our professional team. That is decisive for the fate of every person that appeals to our services.
Physiotherapy (optional, according to the patient’s desire) involves a combination of physical therapy, medical care and deep tissue massage. Massage helps to normalize the process of dopamine secretion in patients undergoing addiction treatment. It contributes to the detoxification process by accelerating blood circulation and lymph flow, accelerating thus the elimination process of toxic substances in the body.
During their stay at the clinic patients have the following activities:
From 9:00 to 10:00 – morning visit
The day begins with a morning visit, i.e. the medical team visits each patient. Doctors ask patients how they slept, how they spent the night and how they feel. During the visit, doctors evaluate the physical and mental condition of patients, make analyses and describe the procedures and activities that the patient will have during the day.
From 10:00 to 12:15 – individual work (psycho-diagnostic, training, analysis of treatment results):
After the medical visit and breakfast, patients receive an infusion and undergo procedures. After that, they continue working with the psychological team (psychologists and specialized pedagogues), who perform individual activities with each patient, including psycho-diagnostic, education and analysis of treatment results.
From 12:15/12:30 to 13:30 – group Psychotherapy
After patients have their infusions and complete the special procedures, they go to a thematic group with the participation of a psychologist. At those groups, patients work on diverse topics, which represent a problem for them (e.g. family relationships, conflicts, friendship, trust, self-confidence and many more).
From 14:15/14:30 to 16:00 – occupational and individual psychotherapy
In the afternoon, patients have recreational and occupational activities. They can choose between going to the gym, playing billiards or table tennis, enjoying home theater or a play station, walking with a psychologist or carrying out activities in the garden (grill, social activities, going to a restaurant etc.).Some patients undergo individual psychotherapy and family psychotherapy, in order to involve the parents in the treatment process.
From 16:00 to 17:30 – educational group:
In the evening, patients go to an educational group with the participation of a psychologist. There, patients have the chance of learning more, in a pedagogical way, about their disease and the way of dealing with their addiction. At the educational group, a projector is used to present educational topics to patients and help them understand better the essence of their disease.
From 18:00 to 20:00 – workshop:
After dinner, patients participate in workshops, where they have the chance of sharing their personal experience in the interaction with other members of the group and the psychologist (role play, visual techniques and creative techniques), within the different applied psychotherapeutic techniques.
From 19:00 to 20:00 – phonecalls:
During the day, patients have the right to call their relatives by phone, with the permission and in the presence of a psychologist or a special pedagogue.
